Alex Felmeister, PhD, MS

Supervisor, Data Integration in Translational Informatics

Department of Biomedical & Health Informatics (DBHi)

Alex Felmeister is a Supervisor of Data Integration within the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHi) and is responsible for leading a team of software developers in the design, implementation and use of novel data driven applications which aid in translational research, both operationally and scientifically. Alex’s team is responsible for integrated operational components that underpin the ability to run large, complex and distributed biorepository operations. Specifically, his team deals primarily with the suite of tools known as the biorepository toolkit and specific harvest query tool implementations around many D³b and CHOP projects.

After joining CHOP in July of 2008, Alex served as the primary liaison for biomedical informatics and the Research Institute’s Center for Childhood Cancer Research where he lead the implementation of the Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and its clinical systems integrations.

Alex earned a BA from Temple University and an MS and PhD in Information Science & Informatics from Drexel University.  He is passionate about fostering translational research in pediatric cancer and hopefully better outcomes for kids through the use of people-focused translational informatics.
