Bioinformatics Engineer
Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine
Saksham Phul is a Bioinformatics Engineer responsible for developing software tools and pipelines to harness clinical and genomic data. He also assists in toolkit development and benchmarking of pipelines to access and improve their quality.
Prior to joining the D3b Center in June 2022, Saksham worked as a Research Scientist/Programmer at Vanderbilt University to predict the functional impact of KCNQ1 mutations with artificial neural networks and developed graphical user interface for drug discovery puzzles within the Foldit game.
Saksham completed a BTech in Chemical Engineering from BITS in Pilani, India before completing an MS in Chemical Engineering with a graduate minor in High-performance Computing (HPC) from Penn State University. He is committed to harnessing the potential of clinical and genomic data with HPC to assist physicians in modern treatment decisions using AI and software tools. D3b aligns with his passion for large-scale data collection, analysis and visualization to help solve the problems of modern medicine through data and software.
