Imaging Data Scientist & Technical Lead
Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine
Ariana Familiar is an Imaging Data Scientist & Technical Lead responsible for translational research focused on pediatric brain tumors, including finding correlates of disease progression and survival using MRI and PET molecular imaging techniques and developing large-scale imaging and genomic bioinformatic analyses on multidimensional data with machine learning methods.
The goal of her research is to leverage imaging and multimodal data with predictive models to better evaluate and treat brain tumors. She is also involved in building a standard workflow to facilitate large-scale imaging research within CHOP and across pediatric healthcare sites around the globe.
Prior to joining CHOP in November of 2020, Ariana conducted research with MRI and machine learning methods as a Research Assistant at Dartmouth College. During her graduate studies, Ariana developed a passion for big data and artificial intelligence approaches for answering real-world scientific questions.
Ariana earned a BA in Psychology & Philosophy from New York University before completing an MA and a PhD in Psychology (Cognitive Neuroscience) from the University of Pennsylvania. She is committed to transforming treatment plans and improving disease outcomes for pediatric patients.
